Despatch Team Leader, Leicester – Job Overview

Core Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5:00pm.

 

Duties will include

  • Managing a team of 4 people including 2 drivers
  • Admin
  • Printing of carrier labels
  • Van delivery co-ordination
  • Work with the factory to ensure jobs are obtained in time for despatch
  • Print despatch notes correctly
  • Invoice checking
  • Weekly vehicle checks
  • Organise returns and ensure chased up and turned around in a timely manner
  • Liaise with sales on
  • Orders being despatched
  • Van Board
  • Returns
  • Liaise with accounts regarding booking in and order allocations
  • Ensure jobs for collection are handled correctly, in the right location, all accounted for and correct paperwork issued.
  • Making sure sundries items are included where necessary
  • Updating van log daily
  • Physical work
  • Packing carrier boxes
  • Packing pallet network orders
  • Transportation of jobs between buildings (FLT Licence Essential)
  • Double-check seamless and steel jobs before despatch
  • Checking drivers are sticking to the correct hours, defect reports are being completed correctly and drivers’ paperwork / PODs are coming back complete
  • Maximise company profits by using vans instead of carriers and using early services on carriers i.e. 48 hours instead of 24-hour service
  • Organising holiday cover for drivers
  • Ensuring the yard and despatch work areas are kept tidy
  • Abiding by and enforcing company H&S procedures
  • Able to multitask and work in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Previous Leadership / Supervisor experience required
  • Organise packing, despatch and carrier allocation for all orders
  • Load and organise the van delivery order-producing lists for drivers including delivery notes
  • Loading and unloading vehicles
  • Assess current processes and improve where necessary
  • Answer queries from sales and production
  • Produce daily manifest checks for all couriers including drivers’ signatures
  • Manage collection and van deliveries
  • Check the Van Board throughout the day for changes
  • Check Van Routes and liaise with the Sales Office for any changes
  • Carry out assembly work as required
