Area Sales Manager, South West – Job Overview

Reporting directly to the Head of Sales & Marketing. You will be responsible for developing new customer accounts plus the management of existing accounts including working closely with our partners within a specified geographical area. The role will also include helping to achieve annual targets and supporting the business development of the product range through building strong relationships with the contractors and supporting the Mustang Sales Manager.

It is expected that the role will be split between working from your home base and working in the field.


Key responsibilities

  • Working with the Head of Sales & Marketing to achieve sales/margin targets relating to the company budget.
  • Under the guidance of the Head of Sales & Marketing, develop the sales pipeline, deliver new sales initiatives, and deal with any queries.
  • Support the Head of Sales & Marketing with administration and operational procedures.
  • Work to a journey plan, where appropriate visit key customers face to face or using video conferencing and phone calls as an alternative.
  • Attend sites where required for meetings and site measures and be able to demonstrate strong technical product knowledge.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Have the confidence to make decisions and the ability to problem-solve.
  • Have a good knowledge and understanding of the UK Building Merchants sector.
  • Understanding of the specification route from Architects to end customer.
  • Should have the ability to read and understand construction drawings.
  • Record all account activity (phone calls/emails/visits) to CRM, accurately and in real time.
  • Complete quotes using our Shopfront software when required.

Additional Duties

  • Attend sales meetings & training programmes when required.
  • Actively promote the company’s range of products, in line with set strategies and tactics.
  • Meet deadlines and goals set by management.
  • Identifying product improvements or new products by remaining updated on industry trends, market activities and competitor actions.
  • In partnership with the Head of Sales & Marketing, maintain the business development plan.
