Renfrewshire Council

Renfrewshire Council in Scotland oversees nearly ninety-thousand homes across Paisley, Renfrew, and Johnstone. To improve council housing, the Council embarked on a project to create modern, affordable, high-quality, and energy-efficient homes. A key aspect of this initiative involved the installation of Mustang seamless aluminium gutters by Maxwelltown Roofing Services.

Challenges Faced

Maxwelltown Roofing Services is involved with the project to improve 4,500 Renfrewshire Council properties and has been tasked with replacing old, failing uPVC guttering systems across Renfrewshire since 2020.

The challenge was not just in the sheer number of properties but also in ensuring the new rainwater guttering system would be durable, sustainable, and cost-effective in the long run.

Solution

The solution came in the form of the Mustang® Seamless Aluminium Guttering System from ARP; the only BBA-approved seamless aluminium guttering system in the UK.

Mustang seamless gutters are roll-formed on-site from a seamless gutter machine. Produced in lengths of up to thirty metres to fit the exact dimensions of each property, Mustang seamless gutters eliminate waste and reduce future maintenance costs.

Mustang seamless gutters are made from at least 87% recycled aluminium and are fully recycled at the end of their lifespan, making them eco-friendly.

Results

The installation of Mustang seamless gutters has been ongoing since 2020 and encompasses a variety of housing types, including bungalows, houses, and sheltered housing. The transition from uPVC to aluminium gutters has brought several notable benefits:
